Horizon Aviation is the way to go! I just obtained my private pilots license and loved every bit of my training. Horizon Aviation provides some of the best training you will receive in the area and for the best rates! If you're looking to obtain your Private Pilot Certificate, I highly recommend Horizon Aviation and CFII Kel Johnson. Kel is professional, friendly, and genuinely concerned with making you a safe and competent pilot. You also won't find a more fairly priced aviation school in the area with flexible payment options and discounts. The Piper Cherokee PA-28 used in training is meticulously maintained and has an upgraded engine (mo powa baby!) that will spoil you. I am a recently certified private pilot, passing my checkride on the first try, and definitely plan to return for further training with Kel and rentals in the future.

I have been with Horizon Aviation since it opened and it is one of the best flight schools in the area! The plane is solid and likely quicker than most of the other training aircraft in the area.
The owner and main instructor, Kel Johnson, is a great guy and genuinely cares about the quality of instruction that his students receive. While a lot of flight instructors teach just to build time, Kel thoroughly enjoys teaching and is more concerned about the progress of his students rather than filling out his own logbook.
I am currently in my instrument/commercial phase of training and there are great renting options available. I highly recommend Horizon Aviation to anyone who is looking to begin or continue their flight training!

This is a great business, I flew with Kel Johnson throughout my entire private pilot training, and he fully prepared me for my checkride while also providing a fun and professional environment. The Piper Cherokee I flew in was also a great plane with everything easy to use and fun to fly. My plane rental experience at Horizon Aviation was great! I did my checkout flight with CFI Jake. We went over several things but it felt relaxing. Horizon Aviation uses flightcircle.com so everything from booking time to getting all necessary plane docs was seamless. Several time slots are usually available at an affordable price. The plane appears to be well maintained and performs great as well. The owner made me aware that a new avionics package has been ordered so I’m looking forward to future rentals.
